Mags MacLaren creates an eclectic range of jewellery, mixed media artwork and photo art from her home on the Isle of Bute.

Many of the jewellery pieces are unique and belong to one of her collections. All of the collections are inspired by photographs taken by Mags on Bute and across Scotland. She also creates other jewellery items which belong to her popular creations series which include Scottish Creations, Music Creations and Creature Creations.

Mags has been a keen photographer for many years, with a particular love for landscape photography. She uses digital editing techniques to enhance original photographs, often creating a photo art image that looks more like a painting than a photograph. Prints are available mounted and unmounted in a variety of sizes, as well as greetings cards. Recently, Mags has started using extracts from the prints are to create photo jewellery.

Creating mixed media art pieces is another creative outlet for Mags. They are inspired by her photo art collection prints, musical influences and the changing scenery around Bute. These are created using a variety of mediums, including many upcycled and repurposed materials.

Mags also works with clients to create one-off jewellery commissions and personalised photo art prints.
