John Lawson is a retired Headteacher who lives on Bute. He has worked in Glasgow, Sardinia, Malawi and on the island as Principal of Rothesay Joint Campus.

John works in different media including water colours, permanent pen and framed stained glass.

John often depicts animals and plants from Bute and all over the world, incorporating ethnic patterns and smooth, flowing lines. Other pieces of his art show an interest in all sorts of styles and subjects resulting in a wide range of results.
