Painting and Sketching

I love how light, colour, line and texture combine to create unique moments and I aspire to capture something of that in my paintings and artworks. I have been living on the Isle of Bute for nearly 5 years and am so often in awe of the stunning scenery around me.

The majority of my land-, forest- and seascapes have been inspired by my walks around the island. I paint and sketch a variety of topics and also enjoy trying to portray something from a slightly different vantage point. I find water fascinating to paint - a crashing wave, gentle swells or trying to capture crystal clear water so often seen on Bute.

When painting, I use paintbrushes and painting knives and predominantly work on hardboard, which I enjoy as it facilitates interesting textures. I recently started working in ink and depending on what I am portraying, the ink sketches can be detailed or more simplistic and sometimes also get a splash of colour.

My work is available to purchase as prints. I also have cards and coasters for sale.

I am more than happy to take on a commission of a special view or place that has significance or happy memories for you. Please feel free to get in touch.
