Allan works in acrylics and watercolours, drawing inspiration primarily from local landscapes. He also has a particular passion for capturing the ships and steam trains in his paintings.

Alongside his artwork, Allan has spent many years crafting highly-detailed scale replicas of Clyde steamers. Allan has had models on display at the Scottish Maritime Museum and Fairfield Heritage.
